Puzzle Sets

These modular sets can be used to make a variety of related puzzles, providing many hours of entertainment from a single print.

Six-piece burr puzzles have been around since at least the 18th century, and they continue to be a source of fascination. The starter set includes 15 burr pieces (or 24 with an optional expansion) that can collectively make 90 different challenges. It's an essential cornerstone of any puzzle collection.

If 24 burr pieces aren't enough, the Extensible Burr Set has several options for printing larger sets - including a 125-piece "comprehensive" set - and code for generating models of any of the 837 theoretically possible pieces. With it you can print any six-piece burr! It is fully compatible with the Starter Burr Set.

Board burrs have the same assembled shape as classic six-piece burrs, but the shapes of the pieces are flattened "boards" rather than traditional sticks. Board burrs tend to be more challenging to assemble, so this is a good next step if you've mastered the traditional burr sets.

The Altekruse Puzzle is another classic design, dating from at least 1890. In the 1970s, Stewart Coffin observed that the basic Altekruse pattern can be extended to form a wide variety of other interlocking constructions. This set enables you to create them all!
